DR. LETICIA PENANO-HO

A clinical psychologist,
neurotherapist and educator, Dr. Leticia Penano-Ho has 38 years of
professional practice at different levels: private practice,
school/university and industry. Her odyssey shows her deep interest in
people and her commitment to help people in becoming the best that they
can be.
She is the current Chair and
President of the Philippine Association for the Gifted. She has
spearheaded programs for the identification and nurture of gifted
children and adolescents especially from the disadvantaged sector. She
has been actively advocating for the Bill which seeks the establishment
of the Philippine Center for the Gifted. She was a US International
Visitor Fellow to Harvard where she met with the research team of Dr.
Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligences). Dr. Penano-Ho was also a
Templeton International Fellow for Gifted Education. She represented
the Philippines in the renowned international conference and training on
Gifted Education in May, 2008.
She finished a two term (6
years) stint as Dean of the College of Education of the University of
the Philippines. She was the Director of the ASEAN Training Center for
Preventive Drug Education (ATCPDE). Before this, she was
Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs for the U.P. Diliman campus.
Dr. Penano-Ho is the
psychologist member of the Philippine Advisory Board for ADHD which is a
multidisciplinary board representing pediatric neurology, developmental
pediatrics, psychiatry and psychology.
She pioneered on
neurofeedback therapy, an intervention which has been used in the United
States for over 30 years. Her clinic Neurotherapy Center, Philippines
is the only clinic that offers this intervention mode to children,
adolescents and adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, Oppositional
Defiant Disorder, and other disabilities as well as depression, seizure
disorders, substance abuse among others.
Dr.
Penano-Ho has been a consultant of international agencies like the WHO,
UNESCO, ILO, ADB and WORLDBANK and local agencies like the DEPED, CHED,
DOLE, Civil Service Commission and the Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency or various projects on education and psychology. Her latest
consultancy was with World Bank as Consultant on Gender and Ethnicity in
Lao PDR. She is also helping Indonesian schools in working with
children with special needs both the gifted and the learning disabled |

MS. LILIA VENGCO

is presently a consultant on
Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) for De La Salle Philippines. She has
conducted numerous training programs for educators all over the country.
From 1997 to 2003, Ms. Vengco
was the high school principal of La Salle Greenhills. She then became
the founding principal of De La Salle Canlubang, where she served until
2006.
She has supervised teachers
and assessed curricula from preschool to high school and has conducted
seminar-workshops for teachers and administrators of La Salle schools
and other CEAP schools in the areas of: Supervision and Administration,
Features of the RBEC, Teaching Strategies for Science teachers, Test
Construction and Evaluation, Teaching as an Art and Skill, Principles of
Classroom Management, School Leadership and Supervision, Leadership
Styles and Leadership Skills, Developing Leadership Skills, Leadership
through Learning: Empowering Teachers, Responsible Classroom Management,
Characteristics of a Lasallian Educator, Steps in Building A Lasallian
Community. She has likewise developed modules on Leadership and
Administration for school leaders and coordinators.
Ms. Vengco is one of the
authors of the textbook series You and the Natural World Discovering
Earth and the Solar System, and Science for Active Learning. She
published article the article "Time to Innovate" in the Lasallian
Educational Forum."
She is very passionate about
improving the quality of instructional supervision in the country. She
is a PAASCU Accreditor and Staff Chair and has served in several
Lasallian associations for teachers and principals.
Ms. Vengco is one of
the founders of the Leadership Strategies for School Managers (LESSM)
program.
